Raised in Victoria, Dr. Stefanie Yao attended the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, Ontario. As a chiropractor Dr. Stefanie treats a variety of issues from backs and necks, to shoulders and ankles too.

 

Dr. Stefanie incorporates various treatment techniques into her practice beyond traditional chiropractic care. Treatments may include the use of electrotherapies, Graston Technique and Soft-Tissue Release Techniques as well as Chiropractic mobilizations and manipulations.

 

As of 2020 Dr. Stefanie is a Certified PoNS therapist. PoNS treatments is only offered at Authorized PoNS Treatment™ Clinics. These clinics are selected based on their experience treating neurologic symptoms such as balance and gait deficits.

 

Dr. Stefanie is an active member in the Victoria community, she has served as a committee board member for Saanich Municipality Parks Trails and Recreation, and is a current Canadian National Chiropractic Board Examiner. In her spare time she finds time to volunteer with various sporting teams and events in town.  

Riley is a Certified Athletic Therapist CAT(C) as well as a Practicing Kinesiologist. She graduated from Camosun College's Athletic and Exercise Therapy program in 2021. Her background in participating in sports include competing at the provincial level in Swimming as well as participating in basketball, cross country and rugby. Riley loves being active, and you will often catch her at the gym or out for a hike with her dog. Throughout her degree Riley has had the opportunity to work with hockey, Football and Rugby as a student Athletic Therapist.

She is looking forward to working with clients and helping them reach their goals!

Education: The University of Manitoba (Adv, B.A. Psychology, 1998), Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Minneapolis, Minnesota (Doctor of Chiropractic, 2002).

 

Practice: Dr. McCowan has practiced in Victoria now for 19 years focusing on family wellness, athletics and spinal rehabilitation. Dr. McCowan uses a variety of Spinal Adjusting techniques as not all spines are created equal and treatments are customized to each unique patient. Also, by utilizing and combining the fundamentals of conditioning, strength training and skill development, Dr. McCowan's practice goal is to help people create positive change in their spine's function and performance to meet, and even exceed the demands of their daily lives. As an individual would train for a sport in order to be successful and injury free, the same goes for the demands of daily life and your spine. Learn, adapt, and succeed!

Haley is a recent graduate from Camosun College Massage Therapy Program. Haley became interested in massage as a practical way to apply science based healing.

 

Haley's approach to massage is intuitive, yet structured with a focus on myofascial, joint mobilization and Swedish techniques to aid in tissue health and help patients rehabilitate or maintain what they love doing most​.

Haley grew up on the island and has a passion in many healing modalities and a keen interest in wellness. Her favourite hobbies are board games, spending time with her dogs, gardening and signing.

Alex has a passion for troubleshooting and solving injuries or those nagging aches and pains.

His experience ranges from treating people with everyday postural problems to athletes to those with neurological disorders like MS or Parkinson’s.

Alexander’s treatment style has been described as “Therapeutic Relaxation”. Using a combination of Deep Tissue, Joint Mobilizations, Trigger Point and Relaxation. Combining all those elements together with a thorough Health History, Assessments and a review of your Daily Lifestyle, allows him to create a treatment and treatment plan that speaks for itself.

In his spare time, Alexander enjoys getting in a workout at the gym or reading up on new advancements in medicine. Movement and knowledge are both key components to his lifestyle and treatments.

Denise is a true Victoria gal, born, raised and lived most of her life here, there is no other place she would like to be.  Denise is very excited to be a part of the new team here at Victoria Enhanced Sport and Spine.  She has been managing front desk of a health clinic for about 19 years now and still loves her job.

Denise loves to cook, bake and craft!  Her favorite crafting is card making, any type of greeting card all done by hand. 

 

Denise is the voice on the phone, the smile at the front desk and always happy to help you get scheduled.
